We decided to watch Hachiko(the japanese version) dvd together.

This a very sad movie. Tis about this professor who was given an Akita puppy as a present. He and his wife intially wanted to refuse the puppy as their dog had just passed away. But his daughter insisted they keep the dog. Later the daughter changed her mind cos she's pregnant and getting married. She don't want the dog anymore and don't really care what happen to it. (Sounds familiar, my friends?)
The professor had wanted to give Hachi away at the wife's insistence but had grown attached to Hachi and so he decided to keep him.
Hachi followed the professor to the train station every morning to see him off and fetch him during the evenings. However, one evening the professor did not return as he passed away suddenly. The family moved away, leaving Hachi behind. And Hachi waited at the same station every day for the next 10 years for his owner who will never return until he died on march 8.
Today, you can see Hachi's statue outside Shibuya train station. He is still waiting for his owner...
Qn : Why did Hachiko wait for his owner everyday at the station?
Because the professor was the only one who truly loved him and he couldn't find another being who can love him as much as the professor. As much as he is waiting for the professor, i suppose he is also waiting for someone who can love him as much as the professor does, if not more.
I always hear the reason why people chose to buy puppies instead of adopting one from the shelter is that shelter dogs will not be as attached to their owners. THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!
On the contratory, i think most adopted dogs can bond very well with their new owners given time and equivalent amount of love.
Enough of babbling, looking at the mountain of kleenex, i suppose we will only walk around the neighbourhood tmr morning with mommy wearing her darkest shades.
And she is going to watch the english remake of Hachiko on monday.
